Holguin, Cuba, Dec 3 (Prensa Latina) The National Crafts Fair was inaugurated in Holguin, in eastern Cuba, on Friday, with the participation of nearly 100 craftspeople from across the country.

Until December 12, local artists and craftspeople, as well as their peers from Havana and La Tunas, will exhibit a wide range of gold and silver products, shoes, textiles, costume jewelry and household items, among other highly demanded goods.

Sponsored by the Cuban Fund of Cultural Assets (FCBC), this edition is conceived with the aim of meeting specific personal and household needs, Yamile Escalona, an expert with the FCBC branch in Holguin, said.

For his part, Manuel Hernandez, president of the Holguin branch, explained that this time, the fair will go beyond craftmanship, since the FCBC will be presented as a socialist state enterprise, with very good results in its exports and several activities to solve domestic issues.

Therefore, this year, the event will be an opportunity to do business again, which will be materialized in the planned business rounds, the director added.

The program of the fair also features fashion shows, art exhibitions and book presentations.

This edition is dedicated to the anniversaries of the People’s Power Councils, the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, the Hermanos Saiz Association and the Cuban Association of Artisan Artists.
