Music, cinema and art to celebrate Cuban culture in Argentina

On the Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts of the Cuban Embassy (EmbaCubaArgentina, embacubaarg, @EmbaCubaArg) and Compartir Cultura's website (https://compartir.cultura.gob.ar/), people will be able to watch several Cuban films, concerts and plays, among other cultural options.

According to organizers, the exhibition Patria (Homeland), by artist Sandor Gonzalez, and curated by Cuban intellectual Omar Gonzalez and the national director of Gestion Patrimonial de Argentina, Viviana Usubiaga, will be inaugurated on the opening day, at 18:00 hours, local time, coinciding with the 152nd anniversary of the beginning of the wars of independence in Cuba.

On October 13, the play Hierro (Iron), by Argos Teatro and directed by playwright Carlos Celdran, will be shown. The play is about the last years of National Hero Jose Marti before leaving to fight for Cuba's independence.

Two days later, Cuba Libre, by moviemaker Jose Luis Sanchez, will be screened. The film is about the end of the Spanish-American war in the late 19th century from the perspective of two Cuban children.

Every day, there will be several musical options with video clips by Cuban groups and musicians such as Toques del Río, Orquesta de Camara de La Habana, Orquesta Failde, Steel Metal, Camerata Romeu, Los Van Van, David Blanco and Alexander Abreu.

As the coda, on October 20, the Day of Cuban Culture, the book A Quien Pueda Interesar (To Whom It May Concern), by late essayist and poet Roberto Fernandez Retamar, will be launched on the Internet, with the participation of his daughter, writer Laidi Fernandez de Juan, and Luisa Valenzuela and Sergio Marelli, from Argentina.
