Bucarest, May 17 (Prensa Latina) Around 952,000 Ukrainian citizens crossed into Romania since Februry after the beginning of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, the border police reported through a statement.

According to the web page of this agency 7,523 of them arrived here in the last 24 hours.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said that its operation is not directed against civilian facilities but seeks to disable the war infrastructure, but several countries rushed to evacuate their diplomatic personnel and joined the sanctions imposed by the West.

The European Union activated several batteries of individual and sectoral sanctions aimed at inflicting the greatest possible damage to the Russian economy, according to the EU body.

Countries such as Poland, the Czech Republic and this nation expressed their willingness to receive refugees, while they also accepted the deployment of military troops from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), with the purpose of encircling Russia, according to the Kremlin.
