Mexico is offering technical support to Cuba in the face of the current power emergency and is analyzing whether fuel aid is also necessary, President Claudia Sheinbaum said today, as she ratified her nation's stance against the blockade.
“We will always be supportive”, she indicated, adding that Mexico’s CFE (Federal Electric Power Commission) “is in contact through the Foreign Ministry with whatever the Cuban people require in order to support them.”
“It is essentially technical assistance”, she noted during her usual press conference.
Responding to a journalist’s question about the possibility of sending fuel, she affirmed that “at a given time we assisted Cuba, and we are seeing whether fuel aid is also necessary as humanitarian aid, and it is for the Cuban people, obviously, and for the country”. “We oppose the blockade on Cuba”.
“It is about the sovereignty of the peoples, that is what our foreign policy says”.
“It is up to the Cuban people to decide how to organize themselves and how to define their form of government”.
“There is no need for intervention”, she indicated, admitting that “besides, the blockade affects the people”.
