Mexico, Oct 8 (Prensa Latina) An unidentified Mexican listed in the Pandora Papers revealed in Panama had already paid the equivalent of 280 million dollars in taxes, the Tax Administration Secretariat (SAT) revealed.

Mexico had gone ahead and launched since last year an investigation to find tax evaders, several of whom are among the 3,047 Mexicans on the list, with one in particular in possession of a large capital, forced to pay said sum.

Raquel Buenrostro, head of the SAT, said that the efforts of the secretariat in the fight against tax evaders resulted in an additional collection of 496 billion pesos in 2020 (24.8 billion dollars).

She affirmed that the SAT applies the policy of 'even floor' and 'tax justice', that is, that everyone pays and not like before when large companies were exonerated, which has made taxpayers honor their taxes.

Buenrostro endorsed the commitment of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to not create taxes or increase existing ones, because when combating evasion and avoidance, calculated today at one trillion pesos (48,387,500,000 dollars), it is not necessary.

The official reaffirmed the determination to combat tax evasion and avoidance and thus clean up the entire financial system and recover what was lost due to these causes.
