Mexico State, Mexico — A collision between a train and a passenger bus in central Mexico State has left at least eight people dead and 45 injured, according to a preliminary report released by the state’s General Coordination of Civil Protection.

In a message posted on its official X account, the institution reported that the accident occurred on the Federal Highway Atlacomulco-Maravatío (industrial zone). The double-decker passenger bus involved belonged to the Herradura de Plata line.

“Preliminarily, eight people are reported dead and 45 injured, attended to by emergency response teams,” the agency stated.


Emergency Response

Authorities confirmed that personnel from the General Coordination of Civil Protection, the Emergency Services, the Red Cross, State Police, the National Guard, the State Prosecutor’s Office, and the municipal civil protection units of Jocotitlán and San Felipe del Progreso are working at the scene.

Additional support agencies from the region have also joined the rescue and assistance efforts.
