Tehran, (Prensa Latina) Iran discredited today accusations regarding an attack on Mercer Street oil tanker off the coast of Oman, which it described as a psychological warfare with political motivation.

'If we had to face the enemies, we would declare it openly', spokesman for the Iranian Armed Forces, Abolfazl Shekarchi, said.

Iranian authorities, he added, are trying to strengthen navigation security in the Persian Gulf, contrary to the United States, the United Kingdom and Israel, which aim at creating insecurity and hatred against Iran.

Shekarchi told IRNA news agency that explosives experts from Ronald Reagan carrier, who assisted Mercer Street, concluded that the drone was made in Iran.

'US side says they recovered Iranian drone parts from the water, but in which lab did they check that evidence?' The military spokesman said.

Gathering false evidence is not a difficult task, Israelis excel at creating forged documents, he noted.

Mercer Street is a Japanese tanker with Liberian flag and under contract by Israeli Zodiac Maritime company.
