Quito, Mar 3 (Prensa Latina) The hearing to present indictments against Ecuador's former President Lenín Moreno (2017-2021) and 36 other people for alleged crime of bribery, scheduled for March 2 was postponed and programmed for this Friday morning.

Last week, the Attorney General’s Office announced that the former president, members of his family, and other persons should be charged for the renowned Sinohydro case, previously the so-called INA Papers case.

Last Thursday, Judge Adrian Rojas accepted the request by defence lawyers of those involved to defer the hearing to have more time to access the file.

Those people are linked to an alleged corruption structure around the Coca Codo Sinclair hydroelectric project, with an interstate and transnational scope, which would have carried out illegal actions between 2009 and 2018.

According to attorney general Diana Salazar, the bribes in this case amount to 76 million dollars, corresponding to approximately four percent of the contracted value of the work.

The complaints against the former president stemmed from an investigation entitled The presidential circle’s offshore labyrinth, released in 2019 about a corruption case. It directly involves the INA Investment Corporation company, which bears part of the name of the daughters of the former head of State.
