Viengsay Valdés, General Director of the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC), received the certificate confirming the membership of the Alicia Alonso Havana International Ballet Festival in the Silk Road Arts Festivals Network.
According to sources from the BNC, Valdés attended as an invited guest the 24th China Shanghai International Arts Festival Performing Arts Fair (CSIAF), which is taking place from October 17 through this Monday at the Bocom New Bund 31 Performing Arts Center in Shanghai, during the opening week of China’s annual International Arts Festival in that city.
On this occasion, in her capacity as President of the Cuban Ballet Festival, the principal dancer delivered —with significant audiovisual support— a historical overview of the artistic event, “from its founding in 1961 to the present day, during which it has remained one of the most prestigious stage dance festivals worldwide.”
In attendance at the presentation were Alberto J. Blanco Silva and Mileidy Aguirre Díaz, Ambassador and Consul General of Cuba in Shanghai, respectively.
The inclusion of the Alicia Alonso Havana International Ballet Festival in the Silk Road Network strengthens the event’s position within the global cultural landscape. This recognition is expected to “foster broader collaboration and enhance the international projection of Cuba’s renowned ballet school.”
