Havana, Oct 9 (Prensa Latina) The myth of the German legend of the Pied Piper of Hamelin is retaken today in book form and tempered to Cuba's communication challenge in the digital universe in the face of US tactics.

The book sounds the flutes of Hamelin. A Battle on Internet for the Minds of Cubans, written by Javier Gomez Sanchez, was officially presented at the theater of the National Library of Cuba, according to a Tweet of this institution.

According to the author, the book includes documents from May 2016 to February 2018, about the Cuban political debate on Internet during President Barack Obama's visit to Havana and the first year of the Trump administration.

In the introduction, Gomez Sanchez narrates, in a concise way, a number of factors that resulted in unprecedented situations and, at the same time, led to writing these pages, without knowing it would become a book.

Each text is a step in a 21-month chronological journey through a communication battle waged on Internet to defend socialism against the US strategy of influencing the Cuban public, he said.

The compilation is available in virtual format on the free platform Dropbox.

The book presentation was attended by former Cuban Ambassador in the United States, Jose Manuel Cabañas (2012-2020), Dean at the Faculty of Communication of the University of Havana, Hilda Saladrigas, and Director of the Library, Omar Valiño.
