Benjamin Amar, leader of the French General Confederation of Labor (CGT, in French language), called on Monday to grant the Nobel Peace Prize 2021 to Cuba's Henry Reeve Medical Brigades for their example of solidarity.

Cuba saves lives, a reality that must be defended against lies and media manipulation, and its help in times of Covid-19 even reaches rich countries, despite the unbearable blockade it faces, Amar, who is also a member of the national leadership of one of France's biggest unions, told Prensa Latina.

According to the CGT member in the Val-de-Marne department, the request to grant the Nobel Peace Prize to the Cuban health professionals is a battle against the hegemonic powers.

Amar said this truth must be released and explained the work done by Cuba's health professionals, present in nations of several continents hit by a disease that has killed more than a million people globally.

The union leader rejected in his dialogue with Prensa Latina the campaigns to distort the reality of a small nation located less than 200 kilometers from the United States, a power that has been blocking it for decades.
