The French Film Festival in Cuba begins at Yara movie theater in this capital on Wednesday with the screening of the feature film "El tiempo de los secretos" (The Time of Secrets-2022) directed by Christophe Barratier.

The film is a literary adaption of the novel “Le Temps des Secrets” by Marcel Pagnol, published between 1957 and 1977. It will be presented by Director and producer Hélene Cases.

Until October 22, the “Yara,” “23 y 12,” and “Acapulco” movie theaters will screen a varied program of films that ranges from the aforementioned literary version of Barratier to “Simone, la mujer del siglo” (Simone, The Woman of the Century-2022).

The 2023 French Film Festival in Cuba will pay tribute to French actor and director Jacques Perrin, who died last year.

Audiences could enjoy feature films in which Perrin played roles, such as the musical “Las señoritas de Rochefort” (The Young Girls of Rochefort-1967), which has won several awards since its premiere, including that year’s Ophüls Award.

The organizing committee of the French Film Festival in Cuba will screen films from that European nation that are usually awarded at international festivals.

Every year, the French Embassy in Cuba contributes to the reciprocal exchange by allowing Cuban filmmakers to present their films in French competitions.
