International, domestic, and transit flights through Iran will resume operations following approval from the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization, which authorized the reopening of the country’s airspace on Thursday.

The announcement was made via an official statement published on the website of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, explaining that the decision was based on evaluations and analyses conducted by the organization.

With this authorization, flights to and from Mehrabad International Airport and Imam Khomeini International Airport, both located in the capital city of Tehran, will return to normal. Airports in the northern, eastern, western, and southern regions of Iran will also resume operations.

According to the statement, airports in Tehran will operate from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time.

Eastern airspace will be available 24 hours a day for domestic, foreign, and international transit flights, while central and western zones will be open for overflight operations.

Airports in Isfahan and Tabriz, located in central and northwestern Iran respectively, are expected to resume operations once the infrastructure affected by the conflict is fully restored.

Prior to the full nationwide authorization, only the eastern region of the country had been cleared to resume operations, according to Majid Ahavan, spokesperson for the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

Iranian airspace had been closed on June 13 following a military offensive by the Israeli army, which triggered an exchange of hostilities between Israel and Iran. The conflict ended 12 days later with a ceasefire brokered by the United States.
