Federal Agent Shoots and Kills Woman in Minneapolis, USA

A federal agent shot and killed a woman driving a vehicle in the U.S. city of Minneapolis today, after she allegedly attempted to run over law enforcement officers during an immigration raid.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin stated in a release that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent shot the woman inside her vehicle in a residential neighborhood of Minneapolis.

Television footage showed the car, a concentration of police vehicles and agents, yellow tape, as well as groups of people gathered and shouting, seemingly enraged by the events in this Minnesota city, currently a target of the Donald Trump administration's immigration crackdown.

"Shame! Shame! Shame!" and "ICE out of Minnesota!" exclaimed protesters nearby, referring to the federal agency.

The DHS plans to deploy at least two thousand agents in Minnesota for what it calls its "largest immigration operation in history."

The decision to send such a large number of federal agents to this state, governed by Democrat Tim Walz, centers on an alleged daycare fraud scheme.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey stated that immigration agents were "causing chaos in our city," and therefore "we demand that ICE leave the city and state immediately."

Local media highlight that the shooting occurred in a modest Minneapolis neighborhood, just blocks from some of the area's oldest immigrant markets and one mile from where George Floyd was killed by police in 2020, an event that sparked massive nationwide protests against police brutality at the time.
