La Paz, Jan 5 (Prensa Latina) Bolivia's former President Evo Morales on Tuesday greeted the setting up of the National Assembly (unicameral parliament) of Venezuela elected on December 6 elections.

'We greet the setting up of the new Venezuelan Legislative Assembly that emerged from the sovereign will of the people, which was democratically expressed at the polls. We congratulate and wish success to the Assembly members who assume their functions today, and wish Venezuela a long life,' Morales tweeted.

The Venezuelan legislative body started on Tuesday the sessions corresponding to the 2021-2026 period, and according to today's program, the Assembly will elect the board of directors that will rule the administration until January 5 2021.

The 'Bloque de la Patria' alliance, integrated by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and allied political forces, achieved an absolute majority in the parliamentary elections on December 6, by winning 256 of the 277 seats disputed.

Such landslide victory is seen by experts as a sign of respect to democracy and the rights of Venezuelans, also as support to the government of President Nicolas Maduro.
