Egypt calls to intensify fight against terrorism in Africa
Cairo, Jan 16 (Prensa Latina) Egypt has reiterated its call to African unity and cooperation in order to fight terrorism and extremist ideas, two of the most serious scourges currently affecting the region.
Addressing a virtual meeting of the African Union, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stated that his country is ready to support other nations in the region in anti-terrorism training.
He also expressed support for the UN-led peacekeeping missions.
In late 2021, the Egyptian Government agreed on the need to continue fighting the Islamic State terrorist group, which it considered a serious threat to Africa’s security and stability.
Mohamed Fouad, director of the international counter-terrorism unit at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made that statement at a meeting on the issue in Brussels, Belgium.
