Havana, Mar 28 (Prensa Latina) President Miguel Diaz-Canel said that education is a priority in Cuba, according to an interview with the former president of the National Assembly of Ecuador, Gabriela Rivadeneira, excerpts of which were published by the Presidency of the Republic on Tuesday.

In the conversation, held in Havana’s Palace of the Revolution, the head of State highlighted the role of young people in the development of the countries of the region.

He commented that although politics can be learned from books, it needs to go hand in hand with the people.

Regarding the blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba, the president explained that the economic sanctions limit the country’s access to the minimum things to sustain services, risking the lives of the people.

He stated that it is necessary to put a face to the blockade to truly understand its effect, and pointed out that it not only affects Cuba, but also prevents other countries from having commercial or economic relations with Cuba.

On its Twitter account, the Presidency of the Republic invited to enjoy the first part of the interview, which can be found on Gabriela Rivadeneira’s official YouTube channel.
