Quito, Oct 29 (Prensa Latina) Ecuador's and Cuba's governments signed on Thursday an Air Services Deal, which will allow both sides to strengthen relations in the field of civil aviation.

The event took place at the headquarters of Ecuador's Foreign Ministry between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luis Gallegos, and the Cuban ambassador to Ecuador, Rafael Dausa.

On the meeting, there were present Ecuador's Deputy Minister of Transport Services and Public Works Jorge Marcelo Loor, as well as officials from the Foreign Ministry, the Minister Counselor of the diplomatic mission Mercedes de Armas; and Cubana de Aviacion's manager in that country, Oscar Silva.

The mechanism establishes rights of both sides for the provision of international transport services by appointed airlines of both sides, as well as to embark and disembark in their territories or in third countries passengers, baggage, cargo and airmail destined or originated in the nations subject to the deal.

'The establishment of those benefits and security and protection mechanisms for the airlines in Ecuador and Cuba will be an important time for the development of the traditional ties of friendship and collaboration of the Cuban and Ecuadorian civil aviation services,' assured the ambassador Dausa prior to signing.

Likewise, the diplomat highlighted the aspiration that its entry into force allows the rise in the flow of passengers between the two nations and the increase in Ecuadorian tourists in Cuba.
