The 14th International Meeting of Economists on Globalization and Development Issues has on the table, this Wednesday, the analysis of the international crisis and its old and new consequences.

The meeting, taking place at the Havana-based Conference Center until November 17, has brought together researchers from different fields of knowledge.

A heterogeneous group of national and foreign participants from 42 countries gathered to discuss a broad academic program divided into 13 fundamental thematic axes.

The global economy in times of crisis and its effects in Latin America, mutations of hegemony, contradictions, and interdependencies among the great powers, and the use of economic sanctions and the current situation are some issues under discussion today.

Other topics are trends in international monetary and financial relations, militarization and conflicts in the current crisis, cooperative enterprises and their social responsibility in the face of the challenges of the current economic crisis, international experiences and globalization, rurality, and territorial development.

Oscar Luis Hung, president of the National Association of Cuban Economists and Accountants (ANEC), stated on the first day of the meeting that the rise in irregular migratory flows, new war conflicts, and environmental degradation were some reasons that prompted the call for the event.

President Miguel Díaz-Canel, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Alejandro Gil attended the opening ceremony.
