The Dominican Solidarity Campaign with Cuba today reiterated its support for the island's government and people, and condemned the United States blockade, which for more than six decades has hindered the country's development.
The Campaign held its 35th national meeting this Sunday, an occasion on which it also rejected Cuba's presence on the unilateral U.S. list of State Sponsors of Terrorism compiled by Washington, "when the whole world knows where the real promoters of such criminal actions are and how they operate," in an allusion to the U.S. government.
In the final declaration of the event, held at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, it also expressed solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution of Venezuela in the face of threats from the White House and demanded the immediate withdrawal of warships, missiles, aircraft carriers, and troops stationed very close to that country's coasts.
The Campaign condemned the genocide perpetrated by Israel against the Gaza Strip and spoke in favor of the construction of a free and independent Palestinian state.
Likewise, it supported the people of Haiti in their struggle for political and social stability, against foreign intervention, and for their self-determination, and the people of Puerto Rico in their actions to form a free and sovereign state.
It demanded decolonization in the Caribbean, voiced support for the Sandinista Revolution of Nicaragua and the government of Colombia in its transformation process; while embracing the proclamation of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), which declared the Caribbean a Zone of Peace at the Summit held in Havana in 2014.
In turn, it condemned the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Venezuelan María Corina Machado, who, it said, promotes Yankee intervention in her country.
The 35th national meeting was attended by Julia Cabrera, an official of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), delegations from Puerto Rico and Colombia, representatives of Dominican political and social organizations, and officials from the Cuban embassy.
Additionally, a representation of the Máximo Gómez Association of Cuban Residents was present, among other guests.
