Diaz Canel visits Mexican Pavilion at Book Fair

Havana, April 21 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Diaz Canel visited Wednesday night the Mexican pavilion, guest of honor at the 30th International Book Fair, accompanied by the Mexican Secretary of Culture, Alejandra Frausto.
At the conclusion of the opening ceremony of the event, the president learned details about the literary novelties to be presented by the Fondo de Cultura Económica, led by the notable intellectual, Paco Ignacio Taibo II, and one of the most representative publishers of the Aztec nation.
During the visit, Diaz Canel stated that Mexico will have the maximum possible participation in the encounter of letters that, from April 20 to 30, will host a score of authors from that sister country, whose presence transcends all manifestations from music, theater and visual arts.
In Frausto's words, this Book Fair will also host a rich program of activities thanks to the teamwork of the Fondo de Cultura Económica, the Mexican Foreign Ministry and other national institutions that worked to make the event a reality.
The relationship between the peoples of Cuba and Mexico has always been frank and open, we are united by dignity, resistance, love and respect for culture, we are sister nations, he acknowledged in reference to the gestures of solidarity of the island and its doctors to face the Covid-19 pandemic in the North American country and the arrival of the Huasteco ship of the Mexican Navy with a donation of books in favor of the public of the island.
Artists, publishers, editors and promoters will also join the intercultural program to complete the large delegation made up of exponents such as Mario Bellatin, Natalia Toledo, José Gordón and other notable intellectuals who will share their works at the Havana International Book Fair.
