The First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Gerardo Peñalver, began a working visit that will help strengthen the ties of friendship between the peoples of both countries.

A meeting with the vice president of the National Assembly (Parliament) and head of the Association of Friendship with Cuba, Chaleun Yiapahoeur, marked the beginning of Peñalver’s program and the delegation that accompanies him, who will also meet with government authorities and leaders of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Laos.

Peñalver arrived from Cambodia, the second stage of a tour of Southeast Asian countries that began in Vietnam.

During the meeting with Saphon, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba expressed gratitude for the multiple expressions of solidarity received from Laos in support of Cuba’s struggle to put an immediate and unconditional end to the blockade of the United States.

Last June, the top leaders of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Miguel Díaz-Canel, and the People’s Revolutionary Party of Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith, held a videoconference in which they highlighted the increasingly consistent relations of friendship and solidarity between the two countries.
