Caracas, May 9 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero arrived today in Venezuela on a working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and reviewing the comprehensive cooperation agreement between the two nations.

Upon his arrival at the Simon Bolivar International Airport in Maiquetia, the dignitary conveyed an embrace of solidarity from the island to the Venezuelan people, whom he thanked first of all for their support and solidarity in the aftermath of the disaster at the Saratoga Hotel in Havana, which resulted in heavy human and material losses.

“I am the bearer of a strong greeting from Army General Raúl Castro and President Miguel Diaz-Canel,” said Marrero, who pointed out the purpose of consolidating the bonds of friendship between Cuba and Venezuela.

The prime minister reiterated Cuba’s support for Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and the civic-military union of the Venezuelan people, who like the Cubans face blockades and international pressures aimed at twisting the will to be free and independent.

“We will be working to strengthen these ties of friendship and seek new ways to reinforce the common interests between both countries,” he asserted. On October 30, 2000, revolutionary leaders Fidel Castro (1926-2016) and Hugo Chavez (1954-2013) signed the Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement, a genuine expression of the will of Cuba and Venezuela to develop reciprocal exchange links in favor of both peoples.
