Havana, Apr 6 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's Foreign Trade Single Window (VUCE) started up operations online during a trial phase, a source from the sector informed on Tuesday.

'We are building the Foreign Trade Single Window. Online procedures began in a testing environment,' Vivian Herrera, general director of Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (MINCEX) tweeted.

It is an electronic platform, which allows carrying out procedures and managing permits related to imports and exports, and it is the result of the work being done to computerize foreign trade, according to the Ministry's website.

It was managed through a program sponsored by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) with fundS from the European Union (EU).

The purpose of the VUCE is to facilitate the management by Cuban and foreign entrepreneurs who carry out international purchase and sales. The implementation of the Single Window, once its three stages are completed, will allow foreign trade stockholders (companies, declarants, freight forwarders, carriers and foreign suppliers) to simultaneously manage the necessary authorizations and payments online with the entities in charge of registrations and permits prior to the clearance of goods.
