Havana, Jun 27 (Prensa Latina) Half a hundred artists complete the lineup of the International Festival of Alternative Music Ciudad del Mar, which will return to the stages of the province of Cienfuegos, at the opening of the summer season in Cuba.

After two years confined to virtual platforms due to the impact of Covid-19 on the island, the event will bring together renowned artists of these sounds in various cultural sites of the territory known as the Pearl of the South, such as the Tomás Terry Theater, the Ateneo Hall, the Egrem Music House and the fairgrounds.

According to the organizers, at a press conference, the event will take place from June 30 to July 3 and the duo Buena Fe, David Blanco, Wil Campa, Grupo Karamba, Toques del Río, Adrián Berazaín, Mauricio Figueiral and Ernesto Blanco have confirmed their attendance.

Also on the list are the ensemble D’Cuba, Jota Barrios, the finalists of the San Remo Music Awards Cuba 2022, Rolo Rivera and Nelson Valdes, the artistic director of the event, Jorge Luis Robaina, said, adding that the selection of musicians demonstrates the mix and quality of Cuban music.

The 9th edition of the event becomes a showcase for the island’s alternative sonorities, which boast a high quality and lack a wide diffusion network, compared to other rhythms of Cuba such as son and salsa, Robaina commented.

Sponsored by the Provincial Authority of Culture and the Government of the territory, the event is supported by the Empresa de Grabaciones y Ediciones Musicales (Egrem) and the Musicuba agency, while it is part of the summer proposals of the Ministries of Culture and Tourism.
