Havana, Mar 31 (Prensa Latina) Cuban writer Rogelio Riveron was awarded the 2021 Julio Cortazar Ibero-American Short Story Prize for 'Polvo gris sobre los párpados' (Gray Dust on the Eyelids).

According to the jury of this edition, which took place virtually due to Covid-19, Riveron's work stands out for 'the elegance of narration, the atmosphere achieved by turning a renowned author into a character.'

Likewise, those in charge of giving the final verdict of the contest highlighted his success for 'skillfully assuming the hypertextual resource with which he achieves a fair balance between the universal and the local'.

Writers Dazra Novak, Javier Villaseñor Alonso and Roberto Mendez made up the panel of judges that concluded with the delivery of several mentions 'for the diversity of their poetics, languages and procedures.'
