Two-time world bronze medalist, freestyle wrestler Alejandro Valdes, is currently focused on his way to the 2021 Tokyo Olympics to make a dream come true and win the only metal absent from his records.

Valdes is one of the main wrestlers in the Cuban men's wrestling team to win medals, endorsed by his performances in regional events, Cups and World Championships; as well as his participation in the German club tournament.

Valdes, a gold medal winner at the 2019 Pan-American Games in Lima, Peru, told Prensa Latina that despite the months of competitive inactivity due to the Covid-19 pandemic, he will do his best at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

He was a bronze medalist at the world championships in Paris 2017 and Budapest 2018, and will compete in the Tokyo Olympics at the age of 32.

His goal is to not repeat his debut at the Rio de Janeiro games, where he failed to win medals afer losing to Russian wrestler Soslan Ramonov (11-3) and Canada's Haislan García (3-3).
