Cuban jumper Robiel Yankiel Sol revalidated his Paralympic title today, after nailing the spikes at 7.41 meters in the final of the T47 category of the Paris 2024 Games.
The Antillean opened in first place with a discreet 7.25 meters, but in the third round he saw how China's Wang Hao (7.32 m) momentarily took the lead in the medal race, until he managed to take the lead in his fourth attempt, in a day of discreet results, far from his universal primacy (7.84).
This was the first gold medal for Cuba in this Paralympic event, the silver medal went to Wang, while the bronze medal went to Russia's Nikita Kotukov (7.05), who competes under a neutral flag, similar to the one he won in the previous edition organized by the Japanese capital.
Sol also failed to beat his own Paralympic record (7.46), set in Tokyo 2020 when he won his first gold medal in these summer events for athletes with disabilities.
The T47 category includes athletes who have a limited movement of an arm of a low to moderate degree, or the absence of upper limbs.
