The temporary work group against Covid-19 in the western Cuban province of Matanzas on Wednesday ratified the restrictive measures adopted to prevent the spread of the disease, despite a reduction in new cases in the region.

The western territory maintains the community transmission phase, therefore the limitation of transport, restricted hours in the provision of services, and the lack of physical presence in closed or public places are reaffirmed, they indicated.

Matanzas presented a favorable decrease in positive cases in the first two days of the week (Monday and Tuesday), when it accumulated just 160 patients), but on Wednesday, it reported 123 case, while the incidence rate indicated the existence of viral load.

Health authorities considered it crucial to carry out surveys and PCR tests (polymerase chain reaction) in the communities, even when the direct contact tests were negative, due to the high spread of the delta strain of the SARS-coronavirus, which causes Covid-19.
