Havana, Aug 12 (Prensa Latina) Prime Minister Manuel Marrero congratulated Cuban youths on International Youth Day on Friday.

On his Twitter account, he gave “a hug and showed pride for the leading role shown in the battles, as faithful followers of the socialist, prosperous and sustainable process.”

On International Youth Day, I give a hug to Cuban youths, who throughout our history have been the protagonists of many battles with courage, bravery and love for the Homeland, always leaving the name of Cuba high, the premiere tweeted.

On December 17, 1999, the United Nations General Assembly declared August 12 International Youth Day.

For the UN, this year’s celebrations aim to get all generations into action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and leave no one behind.

It also aims to raise awareness of certain barriers to intergenerational solidarity, in particular age discrimination, which affects young and older people, and has detrimental effects on society as a whole.

Solidarity among generations is fundamental to sustainable development, the international organization warned.
