Cuban president tours places of economic interest in Santa Clara

President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Friday toured places of economic economic interest in this central city, as part of his responsibilities as lawmaker in the recently elected National People's Power Assembly (Parliament), to monitor the population's main concerns.

In his first stop, the head of State talked with Ihosvany Orozco, manager of the state-owned micro, small and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) Antena S.U.R.L., which manufactures professional and domestic antennas, as well as metal ladders of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), plastic and aluminum.

The entrepreneur told Diaz-Canel that they also produce and export structures to support solar heaters, and are working on the country’s digital television project with a production plan of 67,000 antennas of four models for this year, according to the website of the Vanguardia newspaper.

Orozco told the president that the company made 90 000 antennas last year, thus meeting partially the demand from Copextel and the Domestic Trade Ministry.

He pointed out that a retail store with products and services for welding was inaugurated for the population in central Villa Clara province.

The head of State, who was accompanied by other lawmakers from Santa Clara, also visited the Comprehensive Automation Enterprise (CEDAI).

At the site, he checked the company’s results in the provision of integral engineering services in automation, specialized electricity and communications networks.

Diaz-Canel was also briefed on indicators the services for the rehabilitation of the polygraph industry, the automation of farming houses, energy efficiency projects, and for tourism, according to the weekly newspaper on the Internet.
