Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Saturday thanked Caribbean nations for their donation of medical supplies sent on a plane from Venezuela.

On Twitter, the Cuban president expressed his gratitude to Barbados, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines for their solidarity assistance to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

Thanks to the Caribbean brothers and to Venezuela who in hardest times have helped Cuba, Díaz-Canel live-tweeted.

Meanwhile, the Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez classed the gesture as confirmation of brotherhood among regional nations.

On Friday, the batch of 3.5 tons of medical supplies arrived in Havana, supported by the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) and the Government of Venezuela.

During the donation arrival, Ambassador of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in Cuba Ellsworth I. A. John claimed the Caribbean peoples´ support for Cuba amid complex health crisis, and strongly rejected the economic, commercial and financial US blockade.

On the Cuban side, the Minister of Justice Oscar Manuel Silveira welcomed the donation and ratified the need to strengthen ties amid tough scenario.
