Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel met on Thursday with residents of the San Miguel Airport community, near to the Abel Santamaria International Airport, in his capacity of parliamentary candidate.

The meeting with the residents of this neighborhood of 11,000 inhabitants was part of the days of talks with voters and professionals from various sectors that the Cuban president began on February 6, along with seven other candidates to the National People’s Power Assembly from the municipality of Santa Clara.

Those proposed by this central Cuban city, together with 24 others who represent all 13 municipalities of the province, will participate in the afternoon in a walk that will depart from the Ernesto Che Guevara Sculptural Complex to the Leoncio Vidal Park, in support of the March 26 elections.

The march, which will also condemn the economic blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba, will ratify the people’s will to continue to defend the principles of the Revolution and Socialism.

Thursday’s event also consists of visits to local mini-industries, poultry farms, a psycho-pedagogical center, tobacco-producing farms, sports teams and computer centers.
