Caracas, June 28 (RHC)-- Cuba's First Deputy Communications Minister Wilfredo Gonzalez advocated promoting culture and ethics in the use of digital platforms as a way to defend the people's sovereignty.

In statements to Prensa Latina, during the ALBA Digital Meeting held in Caracas, the vice minister emphasized the need to coordinate actions to create relevant content for Latin American and Caribbean countries beyond the products derived from the communicational hegemony of the capitalist society.

Delegations of the member states of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) participated on Tuesday in an event aimed at articulating strategies to face aggressions in the field of communications and social media networks.

In this regard, Gonzalez highlighted as very useful the opportunity to learn first-hand about the experiences of the communications teams of countries such as Venezuela, Bolivia, and Nicaragua, while recognizing the importance of strengthening cooperation in this area.

The Cuban deputy minister stressed the willingness of the countries of the integration bloc to make known the truth and culture of the peoples of the region, not abandoning the peculiarities of each nation in the daily fight against defamation campaigns.

"There is total agreement on the importance of denouncing all lies, fake news, and the harmful use of new technologies; there is consensus on the need to seek culture and ethics in the use of communication technologies," he said.
