Cuban FMC delegation seeks to strengthen ties with Cambodia

A Cuban Women's Federation (FMC) delegation, led by its General Secretary, Teresa Amarelle, visits the Kingdom of Cambodia on Monday to deepen the historical ties between the two countries.

Amarelle, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and the Council of State, and her accompanying delegation will focus on exchanging experiences on public policies in favor of gender equality and learning about the country’s culture and traditions.

The FMC chief arrived in Phnom Penh from Laos on Sunday and met with Long Sophally, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Women’s Affairs (MoWA). The latter expressed the pride of the Kingdom’s women in receiving the Cuban delegation.

The Cuban official reviewed the milestones of friendship and solidarity between the two nations, highlighting the role of women. She also expressed satisfaction in visiting Cambodia, a country so dear to the Cubans.

According to the visit’s program, Deputy Prime Minister Kitti Sanghak Bandit Men Sam An, and Minister of Women’s Affairs Kantha Phavi, among other high-ranking functionaries, expect to meet with Amarelle and her delegation.

Cambodia is the third and final stage of a Southeast Asian trip, as part of which, Vietnam was previously visited by Cuban FMC delegation.
