The Norwegian Nobel Institute accepted to include from Chile the nomination of Cuba's Henry Reeve Medical Contingent for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize.

The proposal was presented to the Norwegian entity by prominent Chilean academic Haroldo Quinteros, Professor Emeritus of Social Sciences, representing the Coordinating Committee of Solidarity with Cuba and the Celia Sanchez Group, from Iquique city, organizations belonging to the Chilean Movement of Solidarity with Cuba.

As Quinteros himself reported, the letter sent in accordance with the academy's regulations to present the candidacies was accepted on October 8. The reasons for nominating the contingent of Cuban doctors are based on it.

Hundreds of personalities and organizations globally have promoted the nomination of this group of health specialists in a campaign in which more than 4,000 signatures from Chile were also included.

Under the slogan 'Doctors and not bombs, for life and peace', the campaign for the Nobel Peace Prize was launched in Chile in August, promoted by the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba, made up of more than 20 committees, and regional and local groupings.
