Cuba thanks Russia for its contribution to the defeat of fascism

Havana, Jun 23 (RHC) -- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel thanked the peoples of the former Soviet Union who contributed to the defeat of fascism on the anniversary of the Nazi army's invasion of Soviet territory.

Eighty years ago, Nazi Germany mercilessly assaulted the Soviet Union. The West looked the other way, waiting for its destruction,' the President recalled on Twitter.

Four years of war with 27 million dead could not defeat the heroism of the Soviet people, he added.

Russia recalled on Tuesday the 80th anniversary of the fascist invasion of its territory and the countries that made up the Soviet Union and fought the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945), until the defeat of Nazism.
