Cuba thanks CARICOM, Africa for stance against US blockade

Havana, Sep 10 (Prensa Latina) Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Friday thanked the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Africa for their joint stance against the United States economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba.
 
On his Twitter account, the head of Cuban diplomacy expressed his gratitude to the leaders of both regions for the 'joint statement calling for the end of the illegal and unjust economic blockade imposed against Cuba.'

The two parties held the first CARICOM-Africa Virtual Summit in Kenya with the aim of strengthening economic ties and cooperation in other areas.

The Caribbean organization released a statement about this event, which took place under the slogan Unity across the continents and oceans: Opportunities to deepen integration.

CARICOM is made up of 15 countries and the African Union of 55, both blocs also promoted solidarity actions to face global challenges such as climate change and Covid-19.

The United States maintains an economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba for more than six decades and has intensified it during Covid-19 the pandemic.
