Havana, Sep 24 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez recalled on Thursday that some 60 million people have been displaced due to US wars in the world.

'Millions who suffer the consequences of imperialism and its military industry,' Rodriguez posted on his Twitter account alluding the recently published report entitled, 'Creating Refugees: Displacement Caused by the United States' Post-9/11 Wars.'

This system sells welfare while plundering the world's resources, the head of Cuban diplomacy said.

The report from Brown University states that due to those wars, at least 37 million people were displaced, but considered it a conservative figure.

The total displaced by wars could be closer to 48-59 million, the Rhode Island-based school said.

This figure is higher than any other conflict displacement since start of 20th century, except for World War II, from 1939 to 1945.

After the September 11, 2001 attacks, then-US President George W. Bush launched what he called a global war on terror.

As part of that crusade, he attacked Afghanistan and Iraq, the latter for allegedly possessing chemical weapons that were never found.

Top countries with more refugees include Afghanistan (5.3 million refugees), Iraq (9.2 million), Pakistan (3.7 million), Yemen (4.4 million), Somalia (4.2 million), Libya (1.2 million) and Syria (7.1 million).
