Cuba reported on Tuesday some 574 Covid-19 patients admitted to hospitals, 558 of them are clinically stable, 10 are seriously ill and six are in a critical condition at ICUs.

No deaths were reported due to Covid-19 on Monday, so the death toll remains at 108 for a lethality rate of 2.24%, Dr. Francisco Duran, director of Epidemiology at the Ministry of Public Health, said during a press briefing.

The specialist informed that 77 new patients tested positive with the SARS-CoV-2 virus over the last 24 hours, thus increasing the total number of cases to 4,803.

Dr. Duran explained that the new patients, 33 women and 44 men, are Cubans. All are from indigenous transmission events.

Sixty-six of them are contacts of patients already infected and the source of infection has not been confirmed in 11 cases, though experts continue searching, he noted.

The expert stated that 57 of the new cases were asymptomatic when the PCR test was made, which shows the complexity of the disease.

Some 79 patients have been discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, so the total number of recovered patients in Cuba is 4,119.

On Monday, Cuban laboratories made 7,758 PCR tests in real-time, totaling 500,285 samples so far.
