Havana, Sep 26 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP)reported on Saturday that 74 people were discharged from hospitals over the last 24 hours, totaling 4,732 recovered patients so far.

Dr. Francisco Duran, national director of Epidemiology at MINSAP, said in his regular press briefing that 8,291 citizens are currently in healthcare centers.

On Friday, Cuban laboratories made 7,744 PCR tests in real time to detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and 62 people tested positive, Dr. Duran said.

Of the new cases, 31 are men and the same number are women, and 46 patients were asymptomatic when the PCR test was made, the doctor noted.

He added that 591 pediatric patients infected with the SARS CoV-2 coronavirus have been treated from March to date, and 506 of them have already recovered. All evolved favorably, the expert stressed.

With these new 62 cases, the total number of contagions in Cuba since the pandemic broke out in March is 5,412, the specialist said.

He pointed out that 558 Covid-19 cases are in hospitals, and 550 of them are clinically stable.

The specialist stated that two patients died of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, so the death toll rose to 120.

Dr. Duran informed that three patients are in critical health condition and five are seriously ill.
