The Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) reported 31 Covid-19 cases on Sunday, and noted that 7,588 PCR tests were performed on Saturday as part of the strategy to identify more contagions.

At his regular morning press conference to inform about the country's epidemiological situation, Dr. Francisco Duran, national director of Epidemiology at MINSAP, explained that 485,147 PCR tests have been done since the first Covid-19 cases were detected on March 11.

The expert noted that 30 of the 31 confirmed cases are Cuban citizens and one is a foreigner with residence in Cuba, 26 patients are contacts of confirmed cases, and 18 were asymptomatic when the tests were done.

In his report, Dr. Duran noted that three patients are under 20 years of age, two of whom are in pediatric age, so the number of children and adolescents reported in Cuba so far totals 484, 415 of whom have recovered from the disease.

Dr. Duran said that 25 cases are from Havana, three patients are from Sancti Spiritus, two from Mayabeque and one from Artemisa.

The expert noted that no deaths have been reported over the past 24 hours due to Covid-19, so Cuba's death toll remains at 108 and lethality is at 2.32%.

In addition, 52 patients recovered from the disease and were discharged from hospitals, totaling 3,930 recovered patients.

Dr. Duran pointed out that 1,796 patients are in hospitals: 72 under clinical-epidemiological surveillance, 1,080 are suspected cases and 644 are active cases, 623 of whom are evolving well.

He added that six patients are in critical health and 15 are seriously ill due to Covid-19.
