Havana, Jul 12 (Prensa Latina) Cuba reported today 31 new positive cases of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19, 44 medical discharges and no deaths.

The number of patients admitted is 425, of whom 219 are suspects and 206 are confirmed active, according to the daily report released by the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap).

Of the total number of infections at the end of Monday, 22 were contacts of confirmed cases, six of these had their source of infection abroad and in three the cause of infection was not identified.

So far, the number of nationals recovered has reached 97,695,000 (99.2 percent of all confirmed cases), while one of those admitted is in serious condition.

Cuba accumulates one million 106,490 diagnosed with the pathogen since March 11, 2020 and the total number of fatalities as a result of the pandemic amounts to 8,529.

Such behavior places the lethality rate in the Caribbean island at 0.77 percent, much lower than the 1.14 in the world and 1.67 in the American continent, according to a comparison of the data provided by the Minsap.
