As part of the activities to commemorate the 120th anniversary of his birth and the 75th anniversary of his first visit to this South American country, Ediciones Sensemaya publishing house offers readers texts such as “Presencia negra en la cultura cubana,” “De que callada manera” and “Por el mar de las Antillas anda un barco de papel.”

Visitors also have access to “Por nuestra America,” “La paloma de vuelo popular,” “Che comandante,” “Buenos días Fidel,” “Elegia a Jesus Menendez” and “Songoro Cosongo.”

In this way, the Nicolas Guillen Foundation disseminates the thought and work of the outstanding poet and journalist, as well as the values of equity and social justice promoted by him.

The book “Yo soy Fidel,” with a prologue by Roberto Fernandez Retamar and texts by Elier Ramirez, Katiuska Blanco, Frei Betto and Ignacio Ramonet, among others, is also launched.

In addition, the film “El Mayor,” by director Rigoberto Lopez (1947-2019), about the life of Cuban patriot Ignacio Agramonte (1841-1873), will be screened.

Inaugurated on April 28, the Fair will run until May 16 and has Havana as a guest of honor.
