Cuba prioritizes attention to people with disabilities

Havana, Dec 2 (Prensa Latina) Cuba prioritizes the attention to people with disabilities and implements a development strategy based on the principles of freedom, equity, social justice and inclusion, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez assured on Wednesday.
 
On Twitter, the head of Cuba's diplomacy referred that with such achievements the country will celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3.

As stated by the Ministry of Public Health's website, Cuba has several national programs to offer guarantees to this population segment.

Among them are initiatives for comprehensive rehabilitation, and care for people with visual, hearing, deaf-blind or cochlear implants.

There are also the technical aids for those with temporary and permanent difficulties, the National Program of Medical Genetics and the strategy to attend to Alzheimer's disease and dementia syndromes.

In addition, according to the National Report for the Implementation of Agenda 2030, the country stimulates the preparation of students with special educational needs for university, thanks to which over 150 students with visual, hearing or physical-motor disabilities enter higher education annually.
