The Cuban baseball team defeated the Wei-Chuang Dragons 2-0 today on the grass of the Tianmu Stadium in the last preparation game before its debut in the Premier 12 tournament.
A total of four pitchers used the leadership of the Caribbean team and between them they only accepted a trio of hits against a rival team from Taiwan's professional league with five titles in their trophy cup, the last of them in 2023.
Frank Luis Medina walked a route of five innings with only one hit allowed, Andy Vargas pitched a couple of episodes and the duo of Yankiel Mauri and Raymond Figueredo was in charge of hanging the other two rings on the board.
The score which was enough for the victory was made in the third inning by Yadil Mujica and Yadir Dreke's double and the second one was in the eighth when they hit three of the eight hits they had in the match, among them a driving run by Lazaro Armenteros.
The team led by Armando Johnson will face the Dominican Republic this Wednesday in the same venue on the opening, in a group that also includes Australia, South Korea (title holder in 2015), the reigning champions of Japan and the hosts of Chinese Taipei.
Last Saturday began the actions in the A bracket in the Americas and after two days of matches, the six teams (United States, Puerto Rico, Panama, Venezuela, the Netherlands and the local Mexicans) are tied with one win and one setback.
