Cuban Culture Minister Alpidio Alonso denounced the massacre of the Palestinian people before the eyes of the international community, while speaking at the 6th Cultural Summit that concludes today in Abu Dhabi.
The Cuban website La Jiribilla pointed out that he urged the international community to take a stand to stop the genocide in that Arab nation during the High-Level Dialogue convened by Unesco, which was also attended by ministers of culture from Spain, Morocco, Nigeria, Paraguay, Cape Verde, Croatia and Chad.
Alonso condemned the inhumane and genocidal blockade that the U.S. government exerts on Cuba, making it the main obstacle to development in all areas of Cuban society, including culture.
He also explained the importance of culture in the process of revolutionary transformation in Cuba, where it is considered an indispensable condition for full emancipation.
The high-ranking official ratified the importance of the post-2030 Sustainable Development Agenda recognizing a goal specifically dedicated to culture, which recognizes it as a universal public good available to all.
Likewise, he urged that the Cultural Summits serve as spaces for proposals, from which concrete actions are derived, contributing to the creation of awareness in society and the transformation of the reality of the peoples.
