Cuba continues its sanitation efforts in response to the high incidence of arboviral diseases transmitted by Aedes aegypti, Culex, and Aedes spp. midges.

This situation has led to an increase in cases of dengue, Oropouche virus, and Chikungunya across the country.

Minister of Health José Angel Portal recently met with the main authorities of the western province of Matanzas, which has been significantly affected by these arboviral outbreaks.

During the meeting, the senior official stated that constant monitoring of epidemiological indicators and control actions remain a priority for the country's leadership and the Ministry of Public Health.

“This is a moment that demands unity, responsibility, and joint action. Only through everyone’s efforts will we be able to contain transmission and protect the health of the people,” he said.

Portal also emphasized that healthcare services have been reinforced, while transmission indicators continue to be monitored and differentiated action plans are being implemented according to the risk level in each health area.

The Cuban government has called for greater citizen cooperation in eliminating mosquito breeding sites and sustaining the ongoing sanitation campaign focused on the collection of solid waste, with the aim of eradicating sources of arbovirus-transmitting mosquitoes.
