The highest political and governmental leadership of Cuba continues today with its direct participation in the extraordinary plenums of the provincial committees of the Communist Party, analyzing the new historical moment the country is experiencing.
The First Secretary of the Central Committee and President, Miguel Díaz-Canel, confirmed this Friday via his X account his presence in Granma and Holguín, highlighting the importance of these meetings, which are being led by the party's organizational secretary, Roberto Morales.
The President stated on the social network that "Together with the Party membership, we are defining concepts and work methods for 2026."
These meetings began two days ago in the western territories of Pinar del Río and Artemisa. Subsequently, Díaz-Canel traveled to the opposite end of the island to attend the debates in Guantánamo and Santiago de Cuba.
They are spaces to reflect on the role of the leading organization of Cuban society in confronting the complex scenario, noted the newspaper Granma, the official organ of the Party.
Furthermore, they allow for the examination of plans to promote comprehensive territorial growth during 2026 and to assess "the implementation of the agreements of the XI Plenum of the Central Committee of the PCC, and we emphasize the role of the Party membership," stated the President in a previous post.
They also facilitate the establishment of strategies to more effectively prioritize tasks related to the defense of the Caribbean nation, the stability of the National Electro-Energy System, food production, and the quality of services to the population.
The XI Plenum of the Party's Central Committee took place last December, focused on these topics, and it decided to postpone the holding of the 9th Congress to concentrate all efforts on these priorities and overcome the current situation.
During the plenum, First Secretary and President Miguel Díaz-Canel reflected on unity, stating it is "the guarantee that Cuba will continue to be free, independent, and sovereign."
