Cuba's Deputy Prime Minister, Ricardo Cabrisas, attends today a consultation session prior to granting his country the status of Observer before the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), as well as other bilateral meetings .

The EEU is made up of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, while countries such as Vietnam signed a free trade agreement with that regional entity, and Cuba signed a memorandum of understanding with that body on May 21, 2018.

As part of the agenda of his visit to Russia, the island's senior official held fruitful meetings yesterday with executives of the GAZ and Sinara Groups, and of the state corporations Russian Railways and Rosaviatsia, highlights a note from the Cuban embassy in this nation .

The aforementioned entities are linked to important cooperation projects that are developed in the field of transport between both states, adds the same source.

On the 16th, a Cuban delegation headed by the Cuban Ambassador, Julio Garmendia Peña, participated in a meeting with the management of the Sinara Transport Machines (STM) holding company, says the official website of that company.

During the conversations, the participants discussed the next steps of the largest joint investment project in the Cuban railway sector and the possibility of expanding the integrated supply and service of rolling stock in 2021-2023.

In the fourth quarter, STM plans to supply seven locomotives of the TGM8km series, produced by the Lyudinovo Diesel Locomotive Plant (LTZ, which is part of STM) and more than 10,000 units of spare parts and components, according to the same source.

Since 2017, STM has implemented a comprehensive project in Cuban territory to improve the rail transport system, it highlights.

The visit of the deputy prime minister of Cuba will last until the 29th and provides for a meeting tomorrow of co-presidents of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic-Commercial and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between Cuba and Russia.

In addition, next Monday, the delegation chaired by Cabrisas will attend a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Lavrov, with whom they will address crucial aspects of the coordination of actions in the international arena and issues on the global agenda.
